  10.        This release note describes patch SG0000301 to IRIX 5.3 with
  11.        XFS.

  15.        This patch contains bug fixes for the following machine

  29.        1.2  _S_u_p_p_o_r_t_e_d__S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e__P_l_a_t_f_o_r_m_s

  31.        This patch contains bug fixes for IRIX 5.3 with XFS.  The
  32.        software cannot be installed on other configurations.

  34.        1.3  _B_u_g_s__F_i_x_e_d__b_y__P_a_t_c_h__S_G_0_0_0_0_3_0_1

  36.        This patch contains fixes for the following bugs in IRIX 5.3
  37.        with XFS.  Bug numbers from Silicon Graphics bug tracking
  38.        system are included for reference.

  40.           +o After _x_l_v__a_s_s_e_m_b_l_e(1m) assembles all the logical
  41.             volumes and generates a configuration data structure,
  42.             _x_l_v__a_s_s_e_m_b_l_e(1m) removes all incomplete volume from the
  43.             data structure.  Part of the removal process involved
  44.             compacting the data structure.  The compaction was
  45.             incorrectly done and resulted in the wrong information
  46.             being passed to the XLV driver.  Future volume accesses
  47.             can panic the system.  (Bug #260842)
  48.  
  49.           +o _x_l_v__a_d_m_i_n(1m) can fail to delete an used (no file
  50.             system mounted) volume.  This can happen when the
  51.             volume being deleted does not have a log subvolume.
  52.             (Bug #260906)
  53.  
  54.           +o _x_l_v__a_d_m_i_n(1m) can core dump with a segmentation
  55.             violation when deleting an incomplete volume.  (Bug
  56.             #261390)

  74.           +o When appending a standalone volume element to a plex,
  75.             _x_l_v__a_d_m_i_n(1m) incorrectly sets the "end_block_no" of
  76.             the new volume element.  The size of the current last
  77.             volume element was used in the end_block_no calculation
  78.             instead of the size of the new volume element.  (Bug
  79.             #261675)

  91.        you have encountered, patch software is not installed by
  92.        default. After reading the descriptions of the bugs fixed in
  93.        this patch (see Section 1.3), determine the patches that
  94.        meet your specific needs.

  96.        If, after reading Sections 1.1 and 1.2 of these release
  97.        notes, you are unsure whether your hardware and software
  98.        meet the requirements for installing a particular patch, run
  99.        _i_n_s_t.

  101.        Patch software is installed like any other Silicon Graphics
  102.        software product.  Follow the instructions in your _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e
  103.        _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _A_d_m_i_n_i_s_t_r_a_t_o_r'_s _G_u_i_d_e to bring up the miniroot
  104.        form of the software installation tools.

  106.        Follow these steps to select a patch for installation:

  108.          1.  At the Inst>prompt, type

  121.              incompatible.  If this occurs, you must deselect one
  122.              of the patches.

  148.        To remove a patch, use the _v_e_r_s_i_o_n_s _r_e_m_o_v_e command as you
  149.        would for any other software subsystem.  The removal process
  150.        reinstates the original version of software unless you have
  151.        specifically removed the patch history from your system.
